As most of you know, CdT has farmed organically from day 1. Since we are such a small group, we have not gone through the process of getting certification. Well, the time has come for us to get our status immortalized and I have started the process with Oregon Tilth to get this badge of honor.
This is going to be a long process, and will take a whole bunch of paperwork to make it happen (my favorite thing). The initial step was to fill out about 100 forms indicating what we do and our property and submitting for review. Good news, we just got notice from Oregon Tilth that we have passed the initial review and will be moving to the advanced review.
So, why are we doing this now? As President of the Willamette Valley Wineries Association, we have a strategic pillar to dedicate our members to Environmental Stewardship. I am also the co-chair of the Environmental Committee, so I guess I felt like I needed to go through the process of certification if I am to try to move our entire organization in this direction.
